“Pedestal,” by Teale Hatheway is an abstract, urban painting in white on frosted plexiglass. This translucent work was composed using hand cut stencils of elements of street lights and was sprayed with acrylic aerosol paint. The golden, gilded lantern reflects light and gives the impression the light is “turned on.”
These pieces are tall and narrow, fitting perfectly between doorways and hanging with dramatic effect in clusters. They can be suspended at any height from a ceiling and can be used to create privacy screens, columns and sculptural installations.

From the artist:
“Pedestal” is a painting from my installation Fragmented Realities: City of Dreams: a beautiful, frenetic and bewildered love letter to Los Angeles in the form of an immersive installation. Free-hanging paintings composed of layered elements of street lights found throughout the city are framed by maps of sprawling highways and punctuated by observation benches. Appearing as stoic protectors of the city’s many streets, the lamps collectively evoke a rich history that has paid witness to the ever-changing and current contradictory landscape. The installation is emblematic of our exciting, uncertain and ethereal experiences of this rapidly developing city.
